KARACHI, Dec 12: The University of Karachi on Thursday announced the results of MA (previous) external annual examinations-2001 in different subjects.

According to a KU notifications, as many as 2940 candidates appeared in the examinations pertaining to Arabic, Economics, English, General History, International Relations, Islamic History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Political Science, Sindhi and Urdu. In all 1774 were declared to have passed.

A maximum of 1877 candidates appeared in Economics examination, out of which 371 were declared to have passed. The overall pass percentage in the subject remained at 19.77.

The highest pass percentage was recorded in the subject of International Relations, ie, 71.08. In all 1217 students appeared in the said examinations and 865 were declared successful.

The pass percentage in the subject of Philosophy was recorded as nil. In all 13 students took the examination. The pass percentage in other subjects was as follows: Sindhi-65.52, Urdu-49.02, Arabic-40, English-11.24, , Islamic History-36.91, General History-26.83, Mathematics-20.83 and Political Science-44.36.

The university withheld the results of 60 candidates on different grounds.
