JHANG, Nov 18: The shifting of the EDO (education) office in a school building has been creating problems for the students and teachers.

The EDO office was established in the Education Complex after the introduction of district government system. Later, it was shifted to the Government High School for Boys, College Road, Jhang Saddar.

The Education Complex in Satellite Town is a two-storey building having 16 rooms on each floor with attached wash rooms and stores. The building has been housing the office of director education (now EDO) for the last 12 years.

Some teachers told this correspondent that the school was short of classrooms prior to the shifting of the EDO office. Seven rooms in the middle of the school building have been made EDO office, compelling more students to sit in the open.

A large number of people daily visit the EDO office from all parts of the district, adversely affecting the academic activities.

Student told Dawn that they have to share the bathrooms with the staff of the EDO and the visitors. Most parents are planing to shift their children to some other school.

When contacted Executive District Officer (Education) Jamila Akhtar told this correspondent that the office was shifted to the school building for the convenience of general public. “We are ready to move to some other place if the students are facing any problem,” she said.
