FAISALABAD, Dec 1: Police tortured the father of a suspect to death and disposed of the body, family alleged on Sunday.
A police party, headed by Sub-Inspector Zafar Ali, raided their house on Friday night to arrest Sajid Ahmad, allegedly involved in a dacoity.
Sajid was not at home and the police took away his father Nazir Ahmad.
In a complaint to the District Nazim and police high-ups, the family said 52-year-old Nazir was severely tortured at the police station as a result he fell unconscious. The police shifted him to a private clinic.
Nazir was later shifted to some unknown place when some area people informed his relatives.
They alleged that Thikriwala police were not providing them any information about Nazir. They feared that Nazir died of severe torture and the police disposed of the body.
DACOITY: A bus passenger was shot dead by dacoits on Jaranwala-Lahore Road on Saturday night.
Police said some dacoits intercepted a bus in the area of Lundianwala police station and started snatching cash and valuables from the passengers.
Daolat Khan put up resistance and overpowered one of the dacoits. The other accomplices shot dead Daolat Khan and fled away with the loot.
