KARACHI, Dec 1: A power theft, amounting to Rs200,000 for one month, was detected at a mosque in DHA phase-V, a KESC press release said on Sunday.
The mosque — Mubarik Masjid — was found dazzlingly- illuminated, using 45.5 kilowatt electricity through kunda connection, bypassing the meter.
One of the two meters was found broken while the other was functioning bypassed. Two change-over switches were also found at the rooftop of the mosque: that in case of a checking the only operational meter would start functioning through changeover switches. But the theft was detected by the KESC vigilance team.—PPI
