SWABI, Nov 30: A vaccination campaign launched by the Samajee Behbood Rabita Council (SBRC) and the local livestock department, civil veterinary hospital, has succeeded in preventing the spread of haemorrhagic septicemia and other diseases which had killed about 300 cows and buffaloes in Gadoon area.
In a briefing to local journalists about the dreadful diseases, the Samajee Behbood Rabita Council President, Roohul Amin, and officials of livestock department said information had been gathered from the people of Gadoon belt about the spread of disease.
They said to protect cattle against diseases ten teams had been constituted, which had started vaccinating animals, specially cows and buffaloes.
They said the main affected areas were Pajman and Kundal and their suburbs.
The disease, they said, had attacked a number of animals as the virus multiplied at a rapid pace.
For the identification of the causative agent of the disease the vets had collected samples from dead buffaloes and cows and blood from live animals.
Laboratory tests were conducted during the drive and in the light of reports of these tests the vaccination campaign was started, they said.
