JACOBABAD, Nov 30: Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has said his party will launch a protest drive if Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s chief minister was “imposed” on Sindh.

Speaking at an Iftar party, organized at the town hall here on Saturday, he said the Muttahida had no majority in the Sindh Assembly.

He further said the establishment, in collusion with the generals, was engaged in trying to impose a government of its choice in Sindh and that was why the inaugural session of the Sindh Assembly session had been twice postponed.

He deplored Sindh earned Rs400 billion but the unemployment ratio was higher in the province.

Dr Magsi, who is also the president of the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement, Sindh chapter, said no water would be left to irrigate lands in Sindh and the Sukkur Barrage would also be rendered dried if the Kalabagh dam and the greater Thal canal were constructed.

He said the projects were against the provincial autonomy and basic principles of federation.

He said 1,200,000 acres of land had already been rendered barren in Thatta and Badin districts.
