KARACHI, Nov 29: Eight ships carrying containers, general cargo and chemicals are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.
Berthing activity at the wharves was active where five ships were berthed after the departure of three. They are: Al-Manakh, Kota Teraju, to unload and load containers, Madre to offload general cargo, Iran Ghaffari to unload fertilizer, and Tenora to load rice.
Kota Teraju, Jinda and Ievoli Shine departed on Friday, while Sima Bahar, Johar, Cape-B, Madre, Al-Manakh and Kota Berani are due to sail out on Saturday.
Berth occupancy at the oil piers fell to 33 per cent owing to lesser calling made by the tankers, while it rose to 69 per cent at the dry wharves.
A total tonnage of 88,089 tons comprising 16,365 tons of export cargo including 462 tons of rice and 71,724 tons of import tonnage was handled.
The following ships are due on Saturday: Good Hope and Endeavour, with crude oil, Al-Maqwa with high speed diesel, Al-Farabi, with chemicals, Mornes Grand, with general cargo, Hyundai Sprinter, Iwato and Australia Bridge, with containers.
KARACHI, Nov 29: Three ships scheduled to load/offload fertilizer, containers and chemicals were accommodated berths at Multipurpose Terminal and Qasim International Container Terminal, says a PQA press release on Friday.
Meanwhile, two more ships carrying edible oil and containers also arrived at the outer anchorage.
Berth occupancy also remained on the higher side at the port where nine ships were busy in loading/discharging wheat, fertilizer, containers and chemicals, furnace oil and iron ore.
A cargo volume of 78,594 tons comprising 64,167 tons of import cargo and 14,427 tons of export cargo, inclusive of cargo carried in 1,238 containers (Teus), was handled.
On sailing side two ships, Norasia Engiadina and Msc Oman sailed out while Maria was due to leave the port on Friday.
Two ships, Msc Camille and Entalina were scheduled to take berths at QICT and Multipurpose Terminal respectively.
