KARACHI, Nov 27: President Hamdard Foundation, Ms Sadia Rashid, called for inculcating traffic sense in schoolchildren, terming road sense an important part of education in civilized countries.

She was addressing the participants of the Karavan Karachi-PSO Road Sense program at PSO House here on Wednesday. She highly commended the program which is aimed at improving the city’s social and cultural environment.

Sadia Rashid, daughter of late Hakim Said, said that while many factors were involved in the violation of traffic rules, we should try to inculcate traffic sense among children.

DIG Traffic Saud Mirza appreciated the spirit of the event and congratulated the organizers for making efforts to develop road sense among the children of the city.

He advised children to be careful while crossing roads and asked them to use zebra crossings or pedestrian bridges and avoid jaywalking so as to remain safe.

GM PSO Zaheer Baig lauded the efforts of the Chairperson of Heritage Walley, Ms Yasmeen Lari, to promote cultural and social activities in the city, and vowed that the PSO would continue to give full support to such programmes in future.

Ms Shahnaz Ramzi of Heritage Walley, on the occasion, announced that Heritage Walley had won the coveted UN Award for Peace and Culture 2002.

Later, Ms Rashid inaugurated the poster exhibition at the PSO House auditorium. This was followed by a street theatre and award of prizes and souvenirs to children.—PPI
