KARACHI, Nov 27: Chief of Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) Pir Pagara has regretted the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s decision to sit in opposition and hinted that his party might consider the option of joining hands with the People’s Party Parliamentarians.

He was talking to newsmen at Kingri House amid reports that Nisar Khuhro, President Sindh PPP and parliamentary leader of the party in Sindh Assembly, had again sought his support.

Pir Pagara said that it was unfortunate that the Muttahida had taken a position without consulting him though he had lent support to it because he was a well-wisher of Mohajirs.

The PML(F) chief said that the MQM had perhaps backed out after consulting leadership in London and said that Mohajirs had been let down by Haq Parast.

To a question, he said that he was thinking of joining hands with the PPP and after consultation a decision would be made by Thursday. He said that when the PPP and the PML(F) would not be there then what the MQM would do in opposition. He also predicted that a forward bloc was in the offing within the PML(Q).

He said it was time for the PPP to respond to his formula.

Pir Pagara made it clear that he would not allow the “desert raven” (Dr Arbab Rahim) to be at the helm of affairs in Sindh. He alleged that when Dr Rahim could not manage the ministry of irrigation, how could he manage the province as chief minister.

He said his party would not support the candidate of Grand National Alliance.

To a question, he said the PML(F) candidate for Sindh chief minister Syed Muzaffar Ali Shah was a suitable choice, because he was an experienced parliamentarian and he had been Sindh chief minister and speaker of Sindh Assembly.

Pir Pagara said that he considered opposition of Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah as his personal opposition. “When the agencies are opposing me, why should I facilitate them.”

Replying to a question, he did not rule out the possibility of Governor’s rule and said that those who were talking of a deadlock were saying so because they didn’t have the required majority.

He said that despite difficulties assembly session should be held at all costs.
