SIALKOT, Nov 25: The Begowala union council Nazim had a narrow escape when seven unidentified men late Sunday opened fire and hurled hand grenades on his outhouse in Begowala village, Daska tehsil.

Chaudhry Azmat Cheema and his companions Liaquat Ali, Zafar Iqbal and Azam were present at the outhouse when masked men armed with Kalashnikovs and hand grenades came there. They opened fire which continued for quite sometime. The UC Nazim and his companions saved their lives by taking shelter in a fodder room. They also hurled grenades which created panic among the villagers. Three vehicles (LXZ-860, LHN-9718 and MNU-9989) parked there were also damaged badly. Before fleeing, the armed men also fired at several village houses.

Begowala police have registered a case.

Meanwhile, district Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid has ordered a high-level inquiry in this regard.

UPGRADATION: The Daska Civil Hospital (THQ) will be upgraded to the DHQ level by the end of current fiscal year.

Daska DDO (Revenue) Abdul Razzaq told newsmen on Monday that the expansion and upgradation plan would cost Rs70 million.
