HARIPUR, Nov 23: The chief executive, Pesco, Brigadier Tahir Saeed, said on Thursday that plans were afoot to make the company consumer-friendly and stress was being laid on the improvement of services.

He was speaking at an open forum of the Haripur-based Pesco workers and officers.

Pesco’s newly-appointed chief was on a two-day visit to Hazara circle where he would listen to the problems of the employees.

The executive engineer, Haripur Malik Siddique Awan, earlier briefed the CE Pesco on the recovery and line-losses in the district. The visiting dignitary expressed his satisfaction over the staff’s performance and urged further improvement.

About line losses, he warned that the line superintendents, who were also in charge of different power feeders of sever action in case of further increase in the operational line losses.

He also asked the contractual staff to improve performance within six months otherwise their contracts would not be extended.

However, he promised special increments for those whose losses registered a downward trend.

He asked the employees, particularly the line staff, to be courteous towards consumers and solve their problems without delay.

To ensure public and company’s better relations, he said that unnecessary detection billing be avoided.

The chief executive Pesco said that the workers needed to be honest, adding that when the demands were tailored within the given resources, the need for illegal gratification would not arise.

He ordered the payment of all pending off-day wages and TA bills to employees before Eidul fitr.

He asked the line staff not to work on transmission lines without safety tools, because, according to him, 99 per cent of the fatal accidents occurred as a result of carelessness.

The union leaders demanded a dispensary and schools for employees’ children.
