ISLAMABAD, Nov 20: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has denied that members of forward bloc were in contact with the chairperson of the PPP Benazir Bhutto or were playing a role of mediation between military regime and the PPP.

The party in its meeting on Wednesday, decided that the party would discuss the issue of parliamentary cooperation with all groups on the principles of democracy, human rights and the emancipation of the people of Pakistan, said a press release of the PPP.

“It was also decided that any proposal will be taken to the ARD in case any group is unable to address these issues, the PPP will sit in the opposition.”

“The principles clearly enunciated by the PPP are in the best interests of the people of Pakistan. The PPP stands for democracy without which development is a non-starter. The present parliament is an expression of power play and it has little to do with the fundamental human rights of the people or dreams of a better future.

“As an independent block, the PPP has more options before it. The party is determined to play its role for saving Pakistan from tyranny and backwardness as well as protecting the working and middle classes.

“Politicians are expected to stand by the party on whose ticket they are elected. The politicians failing to do so are condemned as turncoats.

“Members of the forward bloc in the PPP are violating the dictates of their conscience and the mandate of their constituents because of NAB. The Pakistan People’s Party was the first to expose NAB as an instrument of political engineering and coercion which was sponsoring state motivated death of justice and perversion of law”.
