ISLAMABAD, Nov 20: Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) Wednesday announced a package of incentives for coaches at its Annual General Meeting held at the Air Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

Any coach whose player competes in the final of a $30,000 tournament will be eligible to get from the federation 30 percent of the prize money the player gets from that event.

Similarly, a player who makes it to the semifinals of a $60,000 or above competition will see his coach drawing from the PSF, 30 percent of what the player receives in prize money.

The meeting, chaired by PSF president Air Chief Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir, allotted next year’s Pakistan Open to Punjab Squash Association, which will stage the $105,000 tournament at Lahore in the month of October. The regional body also agreed to hold two $25,000 events each the same year.

Their counterparts in Sindh confirmed they will host an international tournament offering $25,000 as prize purse along with a national junior event.

The house nominated Rehmat Khan as the national coach, a post he will hold till his contract with the PSF expires.

Air Vice Marshal Salim Nawaz was elected as the new senior vice president of the federation after Air Marshal Syed Qaiser Hussain relinquished the charge following his promotion as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff.

Election for two posts of vice presidents also took place with Mansoor Noor Khan being elected to the seat vacated by Jahangir Khan, who has now been appointed advisor to the PSF chief. Qamar Zaman was re-elected to the other post for another three years.

The selection of teams for next year’s Asian Junior Squash Championship and the SAF Games in Islamabad also came up for discussion and it was decided that men’s and women’s squads for both tournaments will selected through trials.

The pride of performance trophy went to the Punjab Squash Association, based on the number of tournaments and camps they conducted and the prize money that was offered. The NWFP Squash Association were runners-up.
