PESHAWAR, Nov 20: The MMA’s nominee for the NWFP chief ministership, Akram Khan Durrani, has said that the process of development and widening of roads in Peshawar, have ingrained relevance to the revival of economic activity, and overall development of the province.

The process of development reshapes the process of civilization and puts it on more dynamic lines, he added. He said the schemes launched by the district governments would help promote trade and economic ties between the province and the Central Asian States.

He was talking to a delegation of timber merchants of Jamrud Road at his residence here, said a statement on Wednesday. District Nazim Peshawar, Azam Khan Afridi, and Faiz Rasool, leader of Business Forum were also present on the occasion.

Durrani said that development was a continuous process which required sacrifices. He said, the Roads and Highways Widening Project is of great importance for future development and that encroachments along the roads not only hinder the smooth flow of traffic but also create many other problems for the people.

He said that being a middle-class person he was well aware of the problems of the common man. Hence, they would not be ignored.

He further said that collective benefit of the people will get preference over individuals.

He assured the delegation that an all-out effort would be made to redress their problems.
