Ballot for audit

ISLAMABAD, Nov 20: The ballot for selection of cases for audit under self-assessment scheme (SAS) is likely to be held on Saturday.

Member, Direct Taxes, Vakil Ahmed Khan said that the ballot will be held at Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Islamabad, respectively to select 20 per cent cases for audit that qualified for SAS.

The official said that a preliminary meeting in this regard will be held on Thursday to work out the plan for the selection of cases for audit.

He said that the income tax returns for the year 2001-02 have stood at one million this year against 0.975 million returns filed last year, showing an increase of 2.56 per cent.
