PESHAWAR, Nov 13: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) and MNA-elect, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, has hailed the Hamid Karzai-led Afghan government for the release of 15 Pakistani prisoners, says a press release.

He termed the step as a good omen that would further cement the ties between the two peoples.

He expressed the hope that the Afghan government would release the remaining Pakistani prisoners languishing in the Afghan jail.

Sherpao deplored that the stories in newspapers depicted the worst condition of the detainees and the apprehensions about them could only be removed through the release of all prisoners.

He said that the detention of Pakistani prisoners after the debacle of the Taliban had created uncertainty in Pakistan.

He maintained that efforts were made at all levels in order to persuade the Afghan regime for the release of detained people.

The PPP-S leader appreciated the Kabul government for having released a number of prisoners. He demanded that the remaining prisoners should also be released so that they could join their families on the occasion of Eid.
