ISLAMABAD, Nov 12: Pakistan’s Mansoor Zaman, world ranked No 21, has been drawn to play Scott Handley of England in this year’s World Open Squash Championship in Belgium.
His cousin Shahid Zaman, No 28 in the world will face off Ireland’s Liam Kenny while Ijaz Azmat has a difficult opponent in 8th ranked Lee Beachill of England. Farrukh Zaman on the other hand will be up against an even tougher rival — world No 2, Jonathan Power of Canada.
If Mansoor wins his match against Handley, he is likely to take on No 16 Alex Gough of Wales while a Shahid victory would earn him a likely clash with Australian Stewart Boswell, ranked No 4.
There are only four Pakistanis in the main round of the $160,000 Open that runs between Dec 4 and 10. Former champion Jansher Khan, who was to compete in the qualifying round of the event, pulled out last week due to being unfit.
