GUJRANWALA, Nov 12: The Agricultural Development Bank of Pakistan (ADBP) on Tuesday took into custody paddy of about 300 landlords and farmers of Naushera Virkan and Kamoki tehsils and three harvesters for not returning bank loan.
It is stated that they obtained loans for various projects but failed to return it. The ADBP authorities directed the defaulters not to lift the paddy from their fields till the clearance of outstanding dues.
A bank spokesman said the banking court was also taking action against the defaulters.
He said three harvesters of defaulters of Talwandi Musa Khan were taken into custody as they have failed to return Rs8.9 million.
Meanwhile, the defaulters were in panic since ADBP issued them notices.

This was stated by Gujranwala Electric Power Company chief executive Brig Saifullah Khalid while speaking at the local chamber of commerce and industry on Tuesday.
He said Gepco would award a contract to private companies for the recovery of outstanding dues from defaulters.
He assured the industrialists that their problems would be resolved on priority basis. He proposed that they should get repaired their transformers from Gepco workshop to avoid any complication or delay.
He said Gepco officials had been directed not to shut the power supply for more than four hours for maintenance work, and that the shutdowns be preferably on Fridays.
DEATH SENTENCE: The anti-terrorism court No. 1, Gujranwala, handed down death sentence to Salamat Ali in a kidnap-for-ransom case here on Tuesday.
The judge also fined Rs200,000 and ordered to forfeit his property.
The court acquitted four accused — Ijaz, Zafar Masih, Sajida Bibi and Zubaida Bibi — giving them the benefit of the doubt.
According to the prosecution, the convict kidnapped a minor boy, Sajawal, from Kotli Matwan in June, 2002, and demanded a ransom of Rs600,000 for his release.
POLICE CLAIM: Satellite Town police claim having busted a five-member ‘judge gang’ of dacoits after an encounter and recovered illicit arms and looted goods from their possession.
The Civil Line assistant superintendent of police told newsmen on Tuesday that the accused identified as Mubashir, Nazir, Fiaz Ali, Iqbal alias ‘judge’ and Ibrar were involved in a dozen incidents of dacoity, robbery and other heinous crime in Gujranwala, Sialkot and Rawalpindi.
Further investigation is under way.
