KARACHI, Nov 12: A young woman killed her parents in their house in the DHA on Tuesday evening.

Police said Yasmeen, aged 38, was divorced by her husband, Adnan, in 1996. Following divorce, her parents bought an apartment for her near their residence in Sobia Arcade in Phase V, Defence.

On Tuesday morning her mother, Sajada Begum, aged 55, gave her Rs2,200 for an Eid dress.

The TPO Clifton said that, instead of buying a new dress, Yasmeen bought a dagger. Just before Iftar, she came over to her parents house and attacked her father, Abu Nasar Faizee, aged 65, with the dagger. She repeatedly stabbed him in the chest, abdomen and in the legs. She killed her mother in a similar manner.

When she had attacked her father, her sister-in-law and a maidservant, who had locked themselves up in a room, raised alarm at a window opening on the outside. Shopkeepers thought that bandits have entered the house. They informed police on 15. Police arrived at the house and found the elderly couple in a pool of blood.

Police said in the meanwhile Yasmeen tried to flee the scene and also hid the dagger. However, police arrested her and also recovered the weapon.

Police said when Yasmeen was being arrested she told them that she was about to give herself up to police.

According TPO Clifton Munir Shaikh, during initial interrogation, Yasmeen said her parents were instrumental in her divorce. They were also refusing proposals for her second marriage.

Mr Abu Nasar retired as general manager in the PTCL 15 years ago.

DIES IN CUSTODY: A suspected motorcycle hijacker who had been arrested on Nov 8 died in Civil Hospital on Tuesday.

Police said Abdullah Jan was arrested on Nov 8 in cases of motorcycle hijacking in Pirabad and North Nazimabad and stolen motorcycles were also recovered from him. Following his arrest, he complained that he was not feeling well. Abdullah was taken to Sindh Government Hospital, Liaquatabad, where he was provided medical treatment.

Police said on Nov 9 the suspect again complained about his health. He was taken to the Nazimabad police medical centre from where he was shifted to Baqai Medical Hospital in Nazimabad. On Nov 11, he was being taken to a court for remand from Baqai Medical Hospital, but his condition deteriorated on way to the court, and he was taken to Civil Hospital. Abdullah was admitted to the Medical Unit-I, where he died.

Doctors at Civil Hospital declared the cause of death respiratory failure due to hepatitis C. However, Abdullah’s brother Abdur Rahman urged the SSP of the Anti-car Lifting Cell to order post-mortem on the body of his brother for which the SSP requested the Judicial Magistrate-8, Anwarul Hasan, who approved the request and asked the Police Surgeon to constitute a medical board.

The DIG Investigation has written to the Sindh Home Department to order a judicial inquiry into the death of Abdullah Jan.
