KARACHI, Nov 10: A 10-year-old boy died when an ice-block fell on him from a moving truck in Ibrahim Hyderi on Sunday.

Police said that a truck-(LS-3892) carrying ice-blocks was passing through Ibrahim Hyderi when one of the ice-blocks fell on an unidentified 10-year old boy.

The boy died on the spot. The body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for post-mortem.

Area people noted the registration number of the truck. The truck driver drove off after the accident.

At least eight persons were injured in road accidents in the city when roads became slippery after rain.

Four persons were injured when a contract carriage (J-9486) overturned near Toll Plaza on Super Highway. The injured were identified as Mohammed Islam, Haroon Umar, Sher Khan, and Shahid. They had been admitted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, police said.

At Main Kolachi bypass, a passenger coach (PE-1535) overturned. Two passengers were injured. They were taken to the JPMC.

Another passenger coach overturned on National Highway in Shah Latif police limits. The injured were identified as Afroze, aged 30, and Nasreen, aged 16.

They were taken to the JPMC.

WOUNDED: A young man was shot and wounded when he refused to give money to extortionists in Mockho Sunday.

Nadeem, aged 20, was shot in the leg by extortionists at his shop. He had been admitted to Civil Hospital, police said.
