President pays homage to Allama Iqbal

ISLAMABAD, Nov 8: President Gen Pervez Musharraf said Dr Allama Mohammad Iqbal was a gifted poet, political philosopher and Islamic ideologue.

In his message on the eve of birth anniversary of Allama Mohammad Iqbal, President said, “Dr Iqbal‘s message remains the flag-bearer of faith in our civilizational roots and destiny that awaits us.

Iqbal provided intellectual foundation for the South Asian Muslims‘ struggle for Pakistan, and for the Ummah‘s quest for renewal and emancipation beyond the colonial era, the President said.

“We commemorate Year 2002 as the year of Dr Mohammad Iqbal, to pay

our homage to the architect of the idea of Pakistan and the poet-philosopher of renaissance and unity for the Islamic Ummah.
