KARACHI, Nov 8: Governor Sindh, Mohemmadmian Soomro, on Friday directed the authorities concerned to lodge cases under the Criminal Procedure Code against builders involved in unauthorized and illegal constructions and officers abetting them.

The governor was presiding over a high-level meeting at the governor‘s house, convened to discuss enforcement of building bylaws.

He said that effective and integrated steps should be taken to check constructions going on in violation of building bylaws and the cooperation of towns, districts and communities should be sought to implement the bylaws in a transparent way.

Chief Secretary k.B.Rind, Nazim Karachi Naimatullah Khan,Principal Secretary to Governor, Brig Akhtar Zamin, Additional Chief Secretary P&D, Shahzado Shaikh, Secretary Local Government, Arif Azeem, DCO Karachi Shafique Rahman Paracha, Chief Controller Karachi Building Control Authority, Brig S.A. Nasir, and others attended the meeting.

The governor directed that inspectors concerned be made bound to conduct inspection of their respective areas day and night, particularly on holidays. He warned that inspectors concerned would be held responsible for any illegal constructions in their areas, and disciplinary action would be taken against him.

He also asked the chairman of the inspection team to finalize without delay the inquiries in the cases of illegal constructions.

The meeting made it clear that the decision to devolve the KBCA to the town-level was final, though it would consist of a skeleton staff at the central level and its chief would be subordinate to the Nazim.

The governor said the devolution plan had been enforced in the best interest of the masses and decisions were now taken at the grassroots level to solve the problems of the people.

MPAs hostel: Sindh Governor, Mohammedmian Soomro, on Friday visited the MPAs’ hostel and saw various sections of the building.

He also reviewed the repair and renovation work of the building that began after the National Accountability Bureau vacated it, said an official statement.

Secretary of Sindh Assembly, Hadi Bux Buriro, apprised the governor of the details of the work. He informed that the repair, renovation and expansion work of the hostel would be completed soon.

The governor directed that the MPAs who live in the hostel be provided better facilities. He also directed that cleanliness and security arrangements at the hostel be improved.

The governor was told that at present there were 44 rooms, while arrangements were being made for the provision of additional 33 rooms in the hostel.
