PMAP man declared elected from PB-13

QUETTA, Nov 7: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court on Thursday declared Abdul Majeed Achakzai of the Pakhtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) elected on PB-13 (Killa Abdullah-3) while accepting a petition against the re-polling orders in three constituencies.

However, the bench, comprising Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani, ordered re-polling in the 17 polling stations of NA-262 (Killa Abdullah-Chaman) and PB-12 (Killa Abdullah-2).

The Election Commission had cancelled the results of NA-262, PB-12 and PB-13 after receiving reports of clashes between the supporters of rival candidates on Oct 10.

The commission had ordered a re-election in all the three constituencies and fixed Nov 22 for poling.

But PMAP chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Maulana Mohammad Hanif of the Mutthida Majlis-i-Amal and Bismillah Khan Kakar— who all contested the election for NA-262 (Killa Abdullah-Chaman)— filed a constitution petition, along with the aspirants for PB-12 and PB-13, against the re-election orders.

They requested the BHC to cancel the re-election orders in all the three constituencies and declare election results.

The court after hearing the arguments from both sides announced the judgement and declared Abdul Majeed Achakzai as PMA-elect from PB-13 (Killa Abdullah-3) and also cancelled the orders of the Election Commission regarding the re-election in all the three constituencies.

After the success of Majeed Achakzai, the strength of the Pakhtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party has been raised up to four in the Balochistan Assembly.

Earlier, it had got two general seats candidates and a reserved seat for a woman candidate.
