KARACHI, Nov 7: Four ships carrying containers, general cargo and steel coils are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.
Berthing activity was maintained on the higher side where all the new arrivals and those awaiting berths were allotted berths. They are: Dubai, Oriental Bright, to unload and load containers, Mosa to offload vehicles, Banglar Mookh to offload general cargo, Giannis to unload fertilizer and Al-Maqwa to unload high speed diesel.
Sailing was also active as seven ships, Trade Eternity, APL Costa Rica, Jamila, Kota Teraju, Sima Bahar, Johar and Babur Kapitan departed, while Al-Maqwa, Stolt Sakra and Xiang Cheng are due to sail out on Friday.
For the third day in a row berth occupancy was maintained on the higher side thanks to steady berthing and sailing at 67 and 81 per cent both at the oil piers and dry wharves respectively.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves was also active where a total tonnage of 66,756 tons comprising 13,652 tons of export commodities including 805 tons of rice and 2,628 tons of wheat and 53,104 tons of import tonnage was handled.
The following ships are due on Friday: Kota Indah, with containers, Pearlmar, with gas oil, Windsor Castle, with steel coils, and Iran Matin, with general cargo.
KARACHI, Nov 7: Three ships carrying edible oil, furnace oil and coal arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Thursday.
Six ships, New Guardian, Hyderabad, Saudi Diriyah, Msc Serena, New Setokaze and Yong Tai were at the berths loading/ offloading wheat, containers and edible oil and coal respectively.
A cargo volume of 38,385 tons comprising 28,048 tons of import cargo and 10,337 tons of export tonnage, inclusive of cargo carried in 941 containers (Teus), was handled.
Sailing was also active as two ships, Saudi Diriyah and Male sailed out, while Msc Serena and New Setokaze were expected to leave the port on Thursday.
