ISLAMABAD, Nov 6:. Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration will fix prices of consumer items on daily basis during Ramazan, City Magistrate Islamabad Farasat Ali Khan told Dawn on Wednesday.

The city magistrate said the ICT administration could not fix rates of farm products once for the whole month because of fluctuation in their rates at farm level. However, he said the mill owners and the wholesale dealers have assured relaxation in the prices of their products to provide relief to the people.

Mr Farasat said the traders community including Ghee Manufactures Associations, Flour and Dal Mills Associations, Meat Welfare Associations and Fruit and Vegetable Associations have assured relaxation in the profit margin of essential commodities.

The ICT administration, he said, would ensure sufficient supply of consumer items and strict action would be taken against profiteers, hoarders and black marketeers.

He said special teams of Food Department Islamabad (FDI) will fix the prices of all items on daily basis in the Fruit and Vegetable Market I-11 Islamabad and this rate list will be provided to all shopkeepers for display and implementation.

He said the teams will conduct spot checks on daily basis within their jurisdictions to ensure quality and sale at prescribed rates. The official said the ICT administration had set up 12 fair price shops in the capital which will start functioning from Thursday (today). The deputy commissioner will inaugurate two fair price shops at Abpara and in Sector G-10.

The general stores which have been declared fair price shops include Cooperative General Store, Madina Market at G-6/1-1,. Chaudhry Traders, Chanab Market at G-7/1, Awami General Store, Kalar Saydan Plaza at Markez G-9, Pak Buchat General Store at G- 10 Markaz, Sarhad General Store, Abbasi Market at I-9/4, Al- Rehman General Store, Shop No 2, Bismillah Plaza at G-8 Markaz, Mehboob Traders, Lehtrar Road,Tarlai, Shan General Store, Lehtrar Road at Ali Pur Frash, Punjab Traders, Simly Dam Road Bhara Kahu, Arif General Store at Noor Pur Shahan and Awan Commission Shop at Tarnol.

APP ADDS: Capital administration has taken a number of measures to provide quality edible items at lower rates to the people during the holy month of Ramazan.

In this regard, 12 fair-price shops have been set up in the capital to provide maximum relief to the consumers.

The deputy commissioner, Islamabad, Tariq Khan, will inaugurate the fair-price shops at Aabpara and G-10 Markaz on Thursday.
