WASHINGTON, Nov 5: US President George W. Bush has sent greetings to the Muslims, all over the world, on the eve of the beginning of Ramazan.

“I send greetings to the Muslims in the United States and around the world as you observe the holy month of Ramazan,” Bush said in a statement issued by the US embassy here.

He said Islam was a peace-loving faith that was practised by more than one billion people.

The US President said his country was grateful for the friendship and support of many Muslim nations that were vital partners in the global coalition to fight terrorism. He said the Holy Quran taught that Ramazan was a time for fasting, prayers, worship and contemplation.—PPI

The Muslims observed this month by renewing their dedication to care for those in need, doing good deeds, and strengthening family and community ties, said Bush.

“These actions reflect many of the values that the Muslims share with people of other faiths across our nation and around the world, including courage, compassion and service,” he said.

He said the United States was committed to freedom, justice and opportunity for all people.

“May you be well during Ramazan and throughout the coming year,” Bush added.
