AL KHOBAR, Oct 31: Four Pakistani artists and a number of others are currently displaying their works in an exhibition here, under the banner of Al Khobar Art Group.

Works in different media, ranging from oil, to water colour and pastel, mixed media, silk and clay, acrylic and enamel are on display in the four-day exhibition scheduled to close on Saturday at the Stemco Community Centre in Al Bustan village, Al Khobar.

A large number of art connoisseurs and otherwise were present during the opening of the exhibition, an almost annual feature now of the Al-Khobar-Dammam cultural life.

According to the organizers of the show, the exhibition has been taking place in Al Khobar regularly for the last few years, where the artists from various backgrounds and nationalities living here get an opportunity to display their works and the art lovers the possibility to see and appreciate the fine work.

The Pakistani artists whose works are on display here include Samina Qureshi, Abeera Atique, Nighat Ilyas and Ellahi Ishteeaque.

Some of the Pakistani artists displaying their works appear to have been deeply influenced by the Saudi and the Arab culture. Samina Qureshi’s works including images of Arabia, coffee pots, Yomut Carpet, Bedouin Jewellery, and Na’al, which incidentally was also chosen this year to represent the exhibition’s literature this year, are all indicative of the impact of the local culture and tradition on her works. Living in Saudi Arabia for years has definitely left an impression on her.

Abeera Atique was selected as the “artist from Karachi’ has had some beautiful calligraphic works on display besides other works in mixed media. Her work My Seaside Memories definitely reflected her past. Nighat Ilyas, another Pakistani artist who has been a regular participant in similar exhibitions here had some wonderful work in silk on display such as the Bouquet of Roses and The Lady.

Ellahi Ishteeaque, a senior Pakistani artist has been a participant in exhibitions since 1963, had various calligraphic works in different forms on display.
