KARACHI, Oct 30: Three ships, including a wheat loader and an oil tanker with palm oil, are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity was active as all the new arrivals were allotted berths soon after their signals from the outer anchorage. They are: Chitral, Sinar Bontang, APL Cairo and Kota Berani, which unload and load containers.

Four ships, Kota Waris, Dainty River, BiBi-M and Mohawk departed, while Banglar Kallol, Sorena, Babur Kapitan, APL Cairo, Thor Master and Al-Mariyah are due to sail out on Thursday.

Berth occupancy was maintained on the higher side at 67 and 68 per cent both at the oil piers and dry berths thanks to steady berthing and sailing of ships.

A total tonnage of 76,047 tons comprising 8,314 tons of export cargo and 67,733 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Petrolimer, with 6,200 tons of palm oil, PONL Everest, with containers and Xiang Cheng to load 17,800 tons of wheat for a foreign destination.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, Oct 30: A cargo volume of 62,189 tons comprising 40,904 tons of import cargo and 21,285 tons of export cargo, inclusive of cargo carried in 1,650 containers was handled during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Wednesday.

Eight ships were at the berths loading/discharging wheat, containers and furnace oil and coal, respectively.

Three ships, United Trader, Qemstar and City of Edinburgh sailed to sea. While MSC Deila was expected to sail on Wednesday.
