HYDERABAD, Oct 29: The City Taluka Council, through a unanimously-passed resolution, on Monday demanded of provincial and district governments to cancel the orders of shifting of the I. H. Zuberi Home Economics College from the city to Qasimabad.

The resolution was moved by Saeed Ahmad.Ahmad said majority of the students could not afford the expenses of going to the college in the far-flung area.

The council also passed a resolution of Abdul Waheed Qureshi Ajmeri, demanding that filtered water be supplied to the people of Phuleli and Paretabad.

Ajmeri said in 1993-94 the then chief minister had provided a special grant of Rs50 million to the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) and had laid the foundation stone of a new filter plant.

But, he said, the then director-general of the HDA, instead of constructing the filter plant, had spent millions of rupees on an old filter plant in Jamshoro and laying of water pipeline in Noorani Basti, Mir Garden Road and Phuleli.

He demanded an inquiry by a high court judge into the matter and action against the officials concerned.

Ajmeri, in another resolution, urged Sindh and district governments to get the possession of a 30-bed hospital in Phuleli. The hospital was constructed five years back but the health department had failed to secure its possession.

He demanded all facilities should be provided at the hospital.

The resolution of Abdul Hameed about the construction of an overhead bridge between the Zubeda Girls College and the education office was also adopted by the council.
