SHIKARPUR, Oct 29: The district police have launched a campaign to curb criminal activities and tribal clashes.

Over 35 police pickets have been established along Rajib Turt Jatoi, Dadilo Turt Jatoi and Habibkot Maher villages and other key points on link roads and the National Highway.

About 400 commandos, called from the eight districts of the Sukkur region, and six Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident due to the ongoing Jatoi-Maher dispute in the district.

Twelve police posts had been already set up at main points in the district to keep vigilant over the movement of criminals.

Meanwhile, the District Police Officer, Abdul Khaliq Shaikh, told this correspondent senior police officers were making efforts to arrange a meeting of influential people of Maher and Jatoi tribes to resolve the dispute.
