ISLAMABAD, Oct 27: The Kashmiri and the Pakistani expatriates in Abu Dhabi observed Sunday as a ‘Black Day’ to denounce the Indian atrocities and the sham elections in the held Kashmir.

A function, presided over by Ambassador Salim Ullah, was organized by the Pakistan Embassy to mark the ‘Black Day’, a message received here said.

Various speakers pointed out that the elections in the occupied Kashmir were boycotted by majority of the Kashmiri people and claimed that the turnout was very low.

Lauding the efforts and sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiris, they said that the people of the held Kashmir bravely withstood coercion and blackmailing by the Indian occupation forces and responded to the APHC call of boycotting the elections.

The speakers emphasized that successive elections in the past had failed to resolve the Kashmir issue and the recent bogus elections would not have any different outcome.

They said that elections in Indian occupied Kashmir were no substitute to the plebiscite as enunciated in the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The speakers, condemning the Indian propaganda to tarnish the freedom movement by equating it with terrorism, said: “Kashmiris are striving for attainment of their right to self- determination as enshrined in the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions.”

Mr Salim Ullah, speaking to the people at the function, said that Pakistan would continue to provide moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiris in their just struggle.—APP
