KARACHI, Oct 25: The Unilever Pakistan on Friday announced the result of the national-level contest, School Art Project, in a ceremony held at Mohatta Palace Museum here on Thursday. The theme of this year’s contest was ‘Future World’ and schoolchildren of different age groups participated in the contest.

The top three entries will be displayed at the Tate Modern Art Gallery, London, along with the entries declared ‘best’ in contests held in other countries.

The prize winners at Unilever Art Competition Awards Ceremony were ‘Future Dress/Modern Dress’ of Saira Bashir, Citizens’ Foundation, Karachi, (up to 5 years of schooling); ‘A lighthouse in Space’ of Minahal, Maryam and Mehal, Unity School, Lahore, (6 to 8 years of schooling); and ‘Karachi in the Modern Age’ of Anwar, Sarwar, Nabeel, Tariq and Ghulam Mohammad, Citizens’ Foundation (9 to 11 years of schooling).

Musharraf Hai of Unilever Pakistan thanked the jurists, Nazia Khan, Quddus Mirza, Imran Qureishi, Rahat Saeed and Tayyaba Aziz for contributing time and efforts in making the event successful.

There was deep sense of despair simultaneously complimented with hopes and ambitions about the ‘Future World’ in the art projects by schoolchildren displayed at Mohatta Palace Museum.

Seasoned painter, Prof Salima Hashmi, the chief guest on the occasion, appreciated the work presented by the children.

“Going through the work, I am thrilled that future would be in the hands of children,” she commented lauding the imagination and innovation of the participants.

Children belonging to 23 different academic institutions from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar had sent their entries in the competition.
