SUKKUR, Oct 24: The executive committee of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam met in Jamia Madina, Jacobabad, on Thursday to discuss matters relating to the formation of a government in Sindh.

The meeting, presided over by the JUI’s provincial Amir, Maulana Abdul Samad Halejvi, also considered details about the organisational set-up.

According to a press release, the meeting finalised the names of candidates for the Senate as well as the minority seats.

The meeting also nominated the MPA-elect, Maulana Mohammad Umer Sadiq, as the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal’s parliamentary leader in the Sindh Assembly besides authorising Maulana Abdul Karim Abid to negotiate with other political parties in connection with the formation of the Sindh government.

The meeting also condemned the brutal murder of the Kandhkot journalist, Shahid Soomro, besides urging the government to award exemplary punishment to the culprits.

The meeting was participated by JUI leaders, including Qari Sher Afzal, Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, Maulana Abdul Qayyum Halejvi, Mohammad Hasan Langha, Dr A G Ansari, Qari Mohammad Usman and Mir Murtuza.

The newly-elected members of the provincial assembly, including Maulana Umer Sadiq, Mir Ghulam Abid Sundrani, Maulana Ehsanullah Hazarvi and Hafiz Mohammad Naeem also attended the meeting.
