3 customs men die in accident

KOHAT, Oct 22: Three officials of customs mobile squad were killed and two seriously injured when their vehicle fell into a ditch near Orakzai square while chasing a suspicious car on the Indus Highway on Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses said that the Land Cruiser (IDO-7613) was chasing a car when one of its tyres burst and it slipped into a ditch.

The three officials who died in the accident are: Maqbool Shah, son of Zar Badshah, resident of Darmalak, Lachi; Noorullah, son of Fazal Raheem, of Spina Banda, Karak; and Constable Munawar Jalal, son of Akbar Ali, who died of his injuries in the Liaquat Memorial Hospital.

Inspector Saeed Khan, son of Fareedoon, resident of Kohat, and Constable Shakeel was given first aid at the LMH. Inspector Saeed Khan who got fatal head injuries was later shifted to the combined military hospital where his condition was reported to be serious.
