KARACHI, Oct 22: Five ships carrying containers, high speed diesel and to load molasses are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

For the second day in a row berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side as the port agencies tried to adhere to the berthing schedules.

As a result, all the new arrivals as well as those awaiting berth off-port were allotted berths. They are: Kota Waruna, Honor River to unload and load containers, Liang Shan and Thor Scan to offload and load general cargo, NCC Najd and Sea Ace to offload chemicals and to load molasses respectively.

Five ships, Australia Bridge, Kota Waruna, Iwato, Sacura and Lombordia sailed out, while Thor Scan, Honor River, Sea Ace, NCC Najd, Nine Hawk and APL Pusan are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Berth occupancy was maintained on the higher side for the second day in a row at 67 and 64 per cent both at the oil piers and dry berths respectively.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active where a total tonnage of 96,079 tons comprising 21,618 tons of export cargo including 9,532 tons of molasses and 74,461 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Nikolas to load 13,000 tons of molasses, Al-Maqwa to offload 56,000 tons of high speed diesel, Mar Challenger, Al-Wajba, PONL Milandi, with containers.
