CHITRAL, Oct 21: The police arrested a suspect from Gilgit supposed to be one of the gangsters who had killed the driver and conductor of a taxi-van at Shandur last week and decamped with the vehicle.

An inspector of the local police visited Gilgit and took into custody a suspect whose name had been checked in the three hotels here where the five gangsters stayed for more than four days and hired the van for Gilgit.

District police officer Mohammad Saeed Khan said that the suspect will be brought to Chitral for interrogation. The five persons stayed in three different hotels for four days but their identity was not questioned and only one of them produced his national identity card showing him a resident of Gilgit.

It is believed that they were residing with fake names.—By Correspondent
