Foundation and The Lyceum triumph

KARACHI Oct 20: Foundation Public School, registered a 64-run victory over Clifton Grammar School in the Rev. Father Robert D’Silva Golden Jubilee Invitation Inter-school cricket tournament played on Sunday at the P.A.D. Ground.

Batting first Foundation Public School scored 132 all out in 23 overs, although opening batsman Zohaib Anjum had a delightful knock of 75 runs.

Harib Mehmood and Zulqarnain Khan finished off with indentical spells of three for 19 and Saad Kamal bagged two for 22. Clifton Grammar in reply were skittled out for 68 runs in 16.2 overs.

The wickets were shared for the winners by pacemen Emmad Akhtar and Hammad Qureshi each picking up two for 10, while spinners Maisam Raza picked up two for eight and Usman Ghani two for 16 respectively.

In the next match played in the afternoon session The Lyceum School beat Oasys by 31 runs.

The Lyceum scored 168 runs for the loss of nine wickets through Ali Allahwla (44), Bilal Bhatti (29), Bilal Shabbir (23) and Shamoon Farooqui (20). Akbar Durrani got two for 32 and Waqas Ali two for 34.

Oasys in reply were dismissed for 137 runs, although opener Shoaib Ranaa had a fluent knock of 71 runs. Spinner Bilal Bhatti three for eight, Kashif Lakhani three for 10, Ali Agha two for 23 and left-arm Farhan Lakhani two for 28 bowled their school to victory.
