GUJRAT, Oct 20: Three children were burnt alive while their parents and a brother were injured when fireworks exploded and their house caught fire in Baharwal, Kharian on Saturday evening.

The dead were identified as Ali (12), Umar (8) and Maryyam (5).

The condition of Arshad, his wife Parveen and their son Jamshid was stated to be critical at the Kharian THQ Hospital.

Four members of a family had died in Mungowal in a fireworks explosion some days ago.

Meanwhile, five people were shot dead in the district during the last 24 hours.

Rivals gunned down a transporter and his guard near Kot Sangu.

Ghazanfar and his seven accomplices intercepted the car of Chaudhry Amjad who was going to Dina with his two guards. They sprayed a volley of bullets on the car and escaped.

Amjad and his guard Shan died on the spot. The condition of guard Nazeer was stated to be precarious in the DHQ Hospital.

Dinga police said that Amjad, a brother of Warriachan Wala Union Council Nazim Chaudhry Babar, had an old enmity with Ghazanfar. A case has been registered against Ghazanfar and his accomplices with no arrest.

Two women and a boy were shot dead in Jalalpur Jattan and Karrianwala.

In Borrianwala, Qayyum shot dead his sister Farzana and her son Waseem over a domestic dispute.

Jalalpur Jattan police registered a case against the absconding accused.

Madassar shot dead his sister Bushra over a domestic dispute in Dhau. Karrianwala police were investigating.
