DADU:Tribute paid to Ustad Bukhari

Dadu, Oct 20: A literary programme marked the 10th death anniversary of the Sindhi poet, Ustad Bukhari, which was observed at the Govt Talib-ul-Maula High School here on Saturday.

The programme was presided over by Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo. The chairman of the Sindhi Language Authority, Dr Mohammad Qasim Bughio, was the guest of honour.

PROTEST: The residents of Bali Shah village staged a demonstration in Mehar on Sunday to protest against the arrest of the five villagers.

The protestors were led by the Naib Nazim o0f the Bali Shah union council, Waheed Kalhoro.

Talking to newsmen, Waheed Kalhoro said that a heavy contingent of Naing Sharif police had raided the houses in the village.

He accused the police of breaking furniture, robbing thousands of rupees in cash and jewellry besides arresting the five villagers.

He also accused the police of torturing women and children during the raid. He urged the police authorities to take action against the Naing Sharif police.

SUICIDE: Waheed Rehman, 25, committed suicide by ingesting pesticide in Rawat Laghari village on Saturday night.

The motive behind the suicide was said to be domestic dispute.

Another man, Abdul Raheem Agro, 25, also committed suicide by taking pesticide in Kamal Agro village in Mehar taluka over matrimonial dispute on Saturday night.
