LAHORE: Around 35 men and women athletes will be honoured this year with the annual awards named after Z.A. Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.

To finalise the names of the athletes, a meeting of the Pakistan Sports Board will be held in Islamabad on May 4.

PSB director general Amir Hamza Gilani said almost all the national sports federations had sent the recommendations about their best players and a final shape to the final nominee would be given in the meeting.

He said the best player of men’s category would get Rs1 million while the best women would be honoured with Rs500,000.

He said the PSB would give weight to the recommendations of the respective national sports federations.
