MULTAN, Nov 13: The Lahore High Court, Multan Bench, on Tuesday ordered to release trader Afraz Khan after his recovery from Daira Deen Panah police station, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh.
The court expressed dissatisfaction over the explanation by the SHO when sought the reason for no print of entry showing arrest of the trader on the carbon copy when it was recorded in the Register Daily Diary.
The SHO said it was the negligence of the ASI who recorded the details in daily diary.
He maintained the detenu was arrested on the night of Nov 11 while the arrest was registered on Nov 12 morning in a case of theft in which he was a nominated accused.
The LHC directed the authorities to release the detenu and stopped police from arresting him again till Nov 20 so that he could take his case for bail before arrest.
Nasir Mumtaz of Kot Addu said police had arrested his friend Afraz Khan on Nov 11.
When contacted, police said they wanted to arrest the brother of the trader who was involved in some case.—APP
