ISLAMABAD, Oct 15: Rejecting the theory of a hung parliament, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal president Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani on Tuesday said that his meeting with the PML(Q) leadership remained meaningful.
“Politicians are able enough to run the state affairs and any theory of a weaker government or a hung parliament is based on speculations,” he told newsmen after a PML(Q) delegation called on him under the leadership of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
Maulana Noorani said the future coalition government would in no way be weaker to a single party government.
Quoting the example of India, he said: “If a weak coalition government can work in our neighbourhood, then why cannot politicians work together here”.
About his meeting with the PML(Q) leadership, he said: “We exchanged views on various aspects concerning the formation of future government in the country and our meeting was very meaningful.”
In reply to a question about entering into alliance with the PPP, he said the MMA leaders were meeting other party leaders as well... this was a routine matter and they would further discuss at the MMA meeting on Wednesday.
When his attention was drawn towards Qazi Hussain Ahmed’s statement of taking the oath under the Constitution instead of the Provisional Constitutional Order, he said: “What Qazi Hussain Ahmed had said, was right.”—APP
