MELBOURNE, Oct 12: Australia’s Gary Simpson closed in on his first tournament victory after firing a two-under-par 70 in the third round of the Victorian PGA Championship Saturday.
The South Australian, who had led by one after the first two rounds, moved two strokes clear after finishing at 11-under par 205.

Singapore’s Mardan Mamat and Lam Chih Bing went on a birdie blitz to take a share of the third-round lead at the Davidoff Nations Cup here Saturday.
Lam sunk seven birdies and Mamat chipped in with a brilliant eagle as the duo combined for a nine-under-par 63 at the Palm Resort Golf and Country Club to share the lead with Myanmar and Switzerland.
Pakistani pair of Muhammad Munir and Imdad Hussain are languishing at the bottom on 202.
