Re-election not possible: Moin

Published October 13, 2002

ISLAMABAD, Oct 12: Interior Minister Moinuddin Haider has rejected the demand of re-elections made by the PPP Chairperson, Benazir Bhutto.

“It is not possible that the elections are held today and you demand re-elections tomorrow. How is it possible to hold elections daily,” he said in an interview with BBC.

Moin said whenever elections had been held in Pakistan same sort of allegations were levelled.

He said if somebody said injustice had been done to him or if there is some flaws in the elections, he could go to the courts.

He said the PML(N) and PPP had secured greater number of seats than the predictions of political analysts. “Nobody had predicted that the MMA would get so many seats. It shows that the elections have been fair and transparent,” he said.—PPI/APP
