FAISALABAD, Oct 12: The PPP candidates for NA-82 and NA-83 have rejected the election results and alleged massive rigging by the polling staff.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday along with MPAs-elect Raja Riaz Ahmad and Riaz Shahid, Nisar Akbar Khan said Qari Ziaul Haq, a close relative of the Sahibzada Fazal Karim, masterminded rigging with the assistance of the election staff.
They claimed that the results of provincial assembly constituencies PP-65 and PP-66, which fall under NA-82, indicated the popularity of the PPP. They said the PPP won the provincial election while lost the National Assembly seat which was a proof of foul play.
They said the results of both provincial assembly seats were announced on Thursday night while that of NA at 5pm on Friday.
The alleged that three ghost polling stations were set up where ballot papers were stuffed in favour of the PML-N candidate by the polling officers.
IJAZ VIRK: Meanwhile, Advocate Ijaz Virk (NA-83) claimed that the election were rigged in favour of PML-Q’s Mushtaq Cheema. At a separate news conference, Mr Virk said despite the Election Commission orders, tehsil Nazim Mumtaz Cheema favoured his brother. He started over 200 development schemes in the constituency to lure voters. — Correspondent
