SIALKOT, Oct 12: The Election Commission ordered on Saturday re-polling in NA-111 and withheld PP-125 results.

The schedule and date of re-polling will soon be announced.

Former MNA and PML-Q candidate Chaudhry Ameer Husain had been declared elected from NA-111 (Sialkot II) with a minor lead against PML-N’s Idrees Bajwa.

Incidents of snatching ballot papers and thrashing of polling staff by rival political groups were reported from various polling stations in NA-111 (Sialkot-II).

Regarding PP-125, official sources said here on Saturday that police had recovered five ballot boxes out of eight snatched by unknown gunmen from Marala Ravi Link canal near Motra, Daska tehsil.

They confirmed that armed men had thrown eight ballot boxes full of votes in the canal after snatching them from the polling staff at the Government Girls Primary School, Ludhar (Sialkot Saddar).

Three people were also injured seriously when PPP supporters opened fire in polling stations of Ludhar and Variyo villages.

According to the Election Commission, no clue could be found to the three snatched ballot boxes.

Earlier, Variyo family’s ex-MPA and PML-Q candidate Chaudhry Khush Akhtar Subhani was declared successful from PP-125. The votes cast in the snatched eight ballot boxes were not counted while compiling the results.
