KARACHI, Oct 11: Five ships carrying containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was slow where only two ships, Sibi and Olar to unload general cargo and chemicals were berthed after the sailing of as many.

The ships, which departed were led by Helluan and Ievoli Shine, while Sinar Bontang is due to sail out on Saturday.

Berth occupancy at the oil piers rose to 67 per cent, while it fell to 28 per cent at the dry wharves.

Owing to Thursday’s public holiday the activity at the port was light totalling 8,482 tons comprising 1,200 tons of dry cargo and 7,282 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Ocean Starlight, Hyundai Stride, PONL Singapore, Kota Wijaya and Sima Kija, all with containers.

KARACHI, Oct 11: Three ships carrying chemicals, raw material for Pakistan Steel and containers arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Friday.

Meanwhile, Francisca Schulte with containers was allotted berth at the QICT. Six ships were at the wharves loading/discharging wheat, containers, edible oil, and coal.

Cargo handling activity remained firm as the total tonnage handled fell to 35,389 tons comprising 27,093 tons of import and 8,296 tons of export tonnage, inclusive of cargo carried in 752 containers (Teus).

Chemstar Hero sailed out, while Mina and Er-Albany were due to take berths on Friday.
