KARACHI: At least four people were killed in incidents of gunfire in Karachi and several were wounded as a strike called by the Pakistan People’s Party was being observed across the Sindh province on Friday, DawnNews reported.

At least 10 vehicles were also set ablaze by unknown assailants.

Friday’s strike was called to protest against the Supreme Court verdict annulling the appointment of Justice (Retd) Deedar Shah as NAB chairman.

Sindh MPAs from the PPP sported black armbands during Friday's provincial assembly session. A resolution was also passed in the assembly against Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan's petition that challenged Deedar Shah's appointment. Furthermore, the PPP MPAs staged a sit-in in front of the Sindh High Court building.

Moreover, all educational institutions of Karachi remained closed after an announcement by the Sindh education ministry.

Tension gripped various parts of Karachi on Thursday night as armed men on motorbikes roamed the streets in different commercial areas, scattered incidents of arson were reported and gunfire claimed the life of a political worker and left several people injured.
