KARACHI, Oct 9: Work pertaining to repair and renovation of Sindh Assembly building should be completed at the earliest.
This was stated by Secretary of Culture and Tourism, Ashiq Hussain Memon during his visit to the building on Wednesday.
He said that while executing the renovation work, the historic and cultural identity of the building be maintained.
Mr Memon went round various parts of the building and also inspected its halls.
He directed that while displaying the portraits of the leaders of the freedom movement in various parts of the premises, the culture of the province be also highlighted and steps be taken for enhancing the beautification of the building.
The secretary was informed that the seating capacity at the assembly hall had been enhanced, and for a 168-member house, the number of seats available would be 170, with the addition of 56 seats, as compared to the seating capacity of the past.
The work pertaining to installation of false ceiling and air-conditioning is also continuing.
The Secretary was informed that the entire repair and renovation work of the assembly building would be completed by Oct 15.
The need for provision of a fountain at the park of the building was also highlighted.—APP
