Beijing backs Islamabad’s stand

NEW YORK, Nov 12: Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan called on President Gen Pervez Musharraf here on Sunday and exchanged views on the regional situation and bilateral relations.

Describing Pakistan-China relations as a time-tested friendship, the foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s stand in support of global fight against terrorism.

He reaffirmed China’s support and understanding in the international fight against terrorism.

Mr Tang conveyed greetings of Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Prime Minister Zhu Rongji. He said the Chinese leadership and people were looking forward to President Musharraf’s visit to China next month.

President Musharraf thanked the Chinese minister for the expression of support for Pakistan.—APP
